A SHOCKING STORY OF TRUE TERROR

Not to worry. My injuries were not nearly as bad as I had first imagined. With any luck, I should be up and around in no time at all. I now have a profound respect for nature and it's unexpected dangers. Here's what happened.

Being the ever-ready camera buff, I found myself prone in a field, just outside one of our Central Texas RV parks. I was attempting to photograph some MACRO images of the tiny flowers and the Microscopic insects living on them. As I lay there, well into my project I didn't even hear the sounds that should have warned me of the impending Danger.

It seems I had inadvertently wandered into the territory of a wildcat. I was told they normally shun any contact with humans. But, because I was laying there on my belly, I appeared to be nothing more than prey for the beast. At least that's what they told me.

The whole thing only lasted a couple of seconds, but, I'll remember it for the rest of my life. She struck without mercy. I heard her paws hitting the ground and her powerful growl as she charged me. I had barely enough time to look up before she was upon me. My screams drew other campers and the cat immediately retreated into the woods.

When I got around to downloading the pictures I had taken that day, the last one really threw me for a loop. I didn't even realize it at the time, but I had taken a picture of my attacker. I showed it to the game warden and he told me the animal was an immature female Feline Domisticus. GREAT! At least it had a big name.

Now, as I view the photo I realize, had I been paying a little more attention to my surroundings, I could have simply stood up and avoided the entire confrontation. A LESSON WELL LEARNED.

PS I've attached the photograph of the creature that will probably haunt me for the rest of my life.
